Sony SAB artists share the joy, nervousness and memories of seeing themselves on television for the first time

For the artists of Sony SAB – Devish Ahuja, Akshaya Hindalkar, Nitin Babu and Athar Khan, known for bringing relatable, entertaining and inspiring stories to audiences across the country, that first on-screen appearance remains one of the most cherished memories of their journey as actors. Devish Ahuja, who essays the role of Dr. Raunak Bhatia in Yaadein, shared, “I was very young, and I had never imagined that I would see myself on television one day. It felt surreal. I still remember how proud my parents and my entire family were while I was crying with my happy tears. Everyone, from my grandparents to my uncles, celebrated the moment with me. Even my friends, teachers, and people in my society couldn’t believe it. Akshaya Hindalkar who plays Rashi in Pushpa Impossible, shared, “I still remember the first time I saw myself on television, it felt surreal. It was a dream I had carried for years, and seeing it finally come true was a very emotional moment. More than my own excitement, what I’ll never forget is the happiness on my parents’ faces. Watching them feel proud of me made that achievement even more special. All the hard work, auditions, rejections, and patience suddenly felt worth it. Even today every time I appear on screen, I think of that first moment with gratitude because it reminds me how far I’ve come and how much love and support I’ve received from my family.”

Athar Khan who plays Yudhishthir in Hastinapur Ke Veer, shared , “Watching myself on television for the very first time is a memory I’ll always cherish. It was an incredibly proud and emotional moment, not just for me but for my parents as well. I could see the pride in their eyes, and that meant everything to me. Soon after my show aired, my friends and relatives started calling to congratulate me and appreciate my work. As an actor, there’s no bigger reward than knowing your performance has made the people you love proud and brought smiles to the faces of people you’ve never even met. That feeling is truly unforgettable.”

Nitin Babu who plays Chirag in Pushpa Impossible, shared, “Coming from Jammu & Kashmir and moving to Mumbai to pursue acting was a huge leap of faith. I still remember calling my family before my first episode aired and telling them exactly what time to switch on the television. They gathered everyone at home to watch it together. Hearing how proud they were afterwards made that moment far more emotional than I had imagined. It reminded me why I had taken that leap in the first place.”
