Darasing Khurana pledges to be sensitive about climate change at World Parliament of Science, Religion and Philosophy
Mr India International 2018 Darasing Khurana was a speaker at the 6th World Parliament of Science, Religion and Philosophy, which was organised by the MIT World Peace University. The session focused on the topic, ‘Climate change – Impact on world peace.’
Darasing, an active philanthropist, believes that being a public figure, it’s imperative to work towards the welfare of society and make an impact. He is the Brand Ambassador of DATRI (an NGO, which is world’s second largest blood stem cells donor’s registry). He works towards saving the lives of patients suffering from blood cancer and thalassemia. His recent social initiative, Pause.Breathe.Talk Foundation, aims at helping those suffering from mental health issues. The model has also been working extensively to arrange water in the drought stricken areas of Maharashtra. And being part of this conference dedicated to climate change is yet another initiative that aims at bringing about a change and inspiring people. Talking about it, Darasing says, “It’s very disturbing how climate change is affecting people across the world and it’s imperative that we do our bit to contribute towards betterment. I pledge today that I will spend at least one day a week without an air conditioner. That’s the first few steps towards my contribution for climate change.”
Darasing was among the many star guests who attended the online event, including Anusuiya Uikey, the governor of Chhattisgarh; Bhupesh Baghel, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh; V Muraleedharan, Minister of state for external affairs, Government of India; Dr. Vishwanath Karad, president – World Parliament of Science, Religion and Philosophy; Rahul V Karad, secretary general, organising committee managing trustee & executive president, MAEER’s MIT, Pune and executive president MIT-WPU; and Uma Bharti, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, among others.
