Five reasons you must watch ‘Excuse Me Maadam!’

Five reasons you must watch ‘Excuse Me Maadam!’

For someone who doesn’t watch TV much, a new comedy show going on-air was not exciting at all. But as luck would have it, on a dark night (because there was a power cut) when the kids were fast asleep, I accidentally clicked on the “Excuse Me Maadam!” tab on the Disney HotStar application on my phone. Obviously, I had nothing to do at 12:30 a.m., so I thought let’s see what this one has to offer, and believe me I couldn’t stop laughing. For the unversed, this is the second season of the popular show “May I Come In Madam?”, which featured Neha Pendse, Sandeep Anand, and Sapna Sikarwar. The makers have roped in new actors, and though Sapna is a part of the new season too, she won’t be reprising her character. So, you ask why you should watch “Excuse Me Maadam!”? Well, have a look at my five strong reasons, and then you can decide for yourself, read on:

Rajesh Kumar: Remember Rosesh from “Sarabhai vs Sarabhai”, I don’t think anyone other than Rajesh Kumar could have portrayed the role with such panache. And now seeing him as Sanam seems like a new person altogether but with the same impeccable comic timing. What’s more? Even though it’s a comedy show Sanam is the most relatable male character on TV now. He is just a normal guy who is dealing with an over-possessive wife at home and a huge competition at his workplace.

The stellar star cast: Ok, it’s not just Rajesh, the makers have roped in some fabulous actors from the industry like Sucheta Khanna, Nyra Banerjee, Vishwanath Chatterjee, Anup Upadhyay, and Sapna Sikarwar. They have been given some interesting on-screen names too like Sucheta plays Kranti, Sapna is seen as Amar, and Nyra is known as Mithu aka Madam. With such a brilliant cast in one show, you can expect nothing less than a laughter riot.

The punches: Making people laugh is not an easy task, especially with a straight face on, but the dialogues and punches by Manoj Santoshi in the show will make you ROFL. Be it how Kranti explains her weird visions or Amar’s dialogues, there is not one moment where you will frown.

The Edit II team: This is another show by Binaiferr and Sanjay Kohli’s Edit II production company. They are the ones behind shows like “F.I.R.”, “Family No. 1”, “Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai!”, “Jijaji Chhat Per Hai”, and “Happu Ki Ultan Paltan” to name a few. Sanjay is called the “King of Comedy” and if you have followed these shows, you will know that every new show has a unique concept and they always manage to find new ways of entertaining and making people laugh.

The highlight of the show is Andolan. It’s difficult to know who he is from the name, right? Well, Andolan is Sanam and Kranti’s pet dog, whom they lovingly call “Bhaisaab”. If you are a dog lover, you will immediately fall in love with him. Also though Andolan has a “sala-jija” relationship with Sanam, it’s more like that of a cat and dog where they both try to find ways to trouble the other one. And what’s more interesting is that it’s only Sanam who can hear him, because he got some weird dog power when he was bitten by a few dogs.

Believe me, if you start watching the show once, you will not stop. And it’s a great way to unwind after a long tiring day working at home or office. So what are you waiting for, go on and watch it now.
