The film featured Saira Bannu’s debut,introducing Indian cinema to their celebrated on-screen chemistry. The movie was a commercial success and soon went on to be recognised for its celebrated song ‘Chahe Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahe’, which still continues to be sung across generations. Junglee also had a successful run in Bangalore and Mysore and was later remade in Telugu as ‘Sarada Ramudu’ (1980). The film received recognition with a Filmfare Best Sound Award for Kuldeep Singh and a Filmfare nomination for Best Actress for Saira Banu.
