Debparna Goswami’s act dedicated to Sudha Chandran’s life, leaves the ace actress nostalgic on India’s Best Dancer 3

This Saturday, Sony Entertainment Television’s homegrown dance reality show ‘India’s Best Dancer 3’ will be celebrating the spirit of womanhood in the ‘Ladies Special’ episode. Honouring some of India’s ‘super-women’ and their manifold skillset, the contestants, along with their choreographers will pay tribute to inspiring personalities like Major Priya Jhingan – Lady Cadet No 1 and silver medallist from the first batch of 25 lady officers who were commissioned in the Indian Army, Rajani Pandit, India’s first female detective, and Sudha Chandran – veteran dancer and actress.

Contestant Debparna Goswami, along with choreographer Tarun Raj Nihalani will present a magnificent dance act narrating the inspiring journey of Sudha Chandran to the songs – ‘Nachdi Phira’ and ‘Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu’; earning them a standing ovation.

Moved by the performance, Sudha Chandran will express her gratitude to the duo by giving them an idol of Natraj and a pair of ghungroo. Complimenting the act and talking about her challenging journey, Sudha Chandran shared, “I feel proud that, being a woman, I did this. People usually say, “what can women do?” Arey, aurate hi toh ye kar sakti hai! Nari shakti bohot hi khatarnaak hai. People do talk about my journey, but today – my journey, of those three years, and the memories which I kept locked inside me suddenly passed through me.

I saw my father in your performance. I remember after the accident when doctors told me, “You will lose your leg”, my father walked into the room and said, “I will be your leg”. And I asked him – till when, can you give me some guarantee. He then promised me, saying, “I will walk with you till the day you become successful and reach the peaks of success” and he kept his promise. He saw my success and I always say, for any child, there is no greater gift to give your parents than your success. Never lose hope, keep going every day and fulfil all your dreams. I follow this till today and keep telling myself ‘I am the best.”

Terence Lewis will go on to talk about the emotional connection he has with Sudha Chandran, saying, “When this incident happened with Sudha ji, I was around 5 or 6 years old. My oldest sister, who was a classmate of Sudha ji, came back from school one day and told us about the accident; we were all shaken. During our evening prayers, we would all come together and pray for her. I remember for the longest time, my father would say one prayer especially for her recovery. When Sudha ji got the Jaipur Foot, we all celebrated, and it was a very emotional moment for us.”

This Saturday, tune in to India’s Best Dancer 3 at 8:00 pm only on Sony Entertainment Television!
