Indian celebrities support NamMyoho Daan & Phool Versha Foundation as they feed 40,000 Mumbaikars in a week
Indian author and screenplay writer, Kanika Dhillon, Garima Arora and businessman, Ness Nusli Wadia launched an initiative – NamMyoho Daan in collaboration with Phool Versha Foundation, led by filmmaker, Amit Sharma. Within just a week, the initiative has accomplished the commendable feat of feeding 40,000 people in the city, amid a nationwide lockdown implemented to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Despite being one among the many badly hit industries, Bollywood has benevolently stood by those living sparingly in this crisis. It is the said collaborative initiative that the industry is supporting on social media currently. Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Aanand L Rai, Anurag Kashyap, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Dino Morea, Anil Kumble, Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina and K L Rahul tweeted in support of NamMyoho Daan and Phool Versha Foundation.
The common tweet that they posted read as follows: ‘Let’s Unite to Ignite the Fire in their homes…Again. @CMOMaharashtra @mybmc @phoolversha @nammyohodaan @iAmitRSharma @Kanikadhillon #NessWadia @tweetgarima #RavinderNathSharma @MumbaiLiveNews #PhoolVershaFoundation #NamMyohoDaan #FeedTheHungry’
Says Kanika, “We don’t live in a perfectly egalitarian society and we’re surviving the lockdown in varying degrees of privilege. The motto of the initiative is to share a slice of that privilege with those who need it and to let no one sleep food-deprived.”
She adds, “I’m relieved that NamMyoho Daan and Phool Versha Foundation were successful in providing 40,000 people with ration kits. The kit includes flour, rice, daal, salt, spices and soaps enough for a family of four for ten days. We would really like to thank all those who are helping us take this initiative to the people who can help. We really hope more and more people come forward and help us help them.”
