On National Women’s Day, &TV artists remember Sarojini Naidu
Every year National Women’s Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Sarojini Naidu. She has inspired many to believe that the sky is the limit, and anything is possible with the right will and hard work through her work and achievements. On National Women’s Day, &TV actors, Mouli Ganguly (Mahasati Anusuya, Baal Shiv), Akansha Sharma (Sakina Mirza, Aur Bhai Kya Chal Raha Hai?), Kamna Pathak (Rajesh, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan), Shubhangi Atre (Angoori Bhabi, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai) celebrate the leader’s outstanding work and her contribution.
Mouli Ganguly, aka Mahasati Anusuya in &TV’s Baal Shiv, shares, “Sarojini Naidu was a feminist at her time, opening many doors of opportunities for women in India. She was among the first women to serve as governor of India. Her birthday marks the celebration of the development of women’s power in India. She has inspired me to believe in myself and help lead the way to conquer the world through her work and teachings.” Akansha Sharma, aka Sakina Mirza in &TV’s Aur Bhai Kya Chal Raha Hai? says, “Sarojini Naidu was truly a woman of words. Her poems were impeccable, and she practised what she preached with her actions. She demonstrated that achieving something is not gender specific. It takes dedication and the right force to succeed.”
Kamna Pathak, aka Rajesh in &TV’s Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, shares, “Sarojini Naidu played a key role in establishing the Indian Women’s Association. She actively participated in the Indian National Movement for the country’s Independence. Sarojini was a child prodigy, freedom fighter, leader, skilled orator and exemplary administrator. She paved the way for many women like us to express ourselves and live a life of freedom.” Shubhangi Atre, aka Angoori Bhabi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, adds, “In my childhood, my father used to read me Sarojini Naidu’s poetry from her book, “The Golden Threshold”, and her “Song of a dream” deeply inspired me. The biggest lesson I learnt from her is that where there is a will, there is a way.”
