Celebrating two decades in the industry, Indian Television Academy Awards to host its 21st edition in March

In a world where web content has taken over, one can’t overlook the importance of television that still stands as the primary source of entertainment for the majority of the country. In such a scenario, the relentless and inexhaustible work of the Indian Television Academy is noteworthy. Providing the television industry its first platform, the medium has always found a flag-bearer in the institution. The ITA is now all set to host their 21st awards ceremony this month which would also include nominations for ott which was introduced 4 years ago. Having finished two decades and seen the Hindi television industry bloom and come of its own, the awards will celebrate the stalwarts and the stars of the TV industry as well as ott. The ITA has received nearly 1500 entries in 2021, much like every year. Reinventing with changing times has been a motto of the institution and thus like the past three years, the awards have included web shows as well. Interestingly, ITA is the only award show which goes on air and curates as well as facilitates awards to OTT, which is a remarkable feat on part of the institution.
An audience vote derived awards show, staying true to its style the makers are planning to host a dazzling event with the creme de le creme of the movie and TV world in attendance. Having suffered the plight of the pandemic for the last two years, the show returns in all its glory this time. The awards are scheduled to happen in March in Mumbai.
Shashi Ranjan tells us, “For us, ITA finishing two decades has been a heartening journey. We’ve seen massive transitions and the content landscape changing but ITA was started with the intention of celebrating entertainers who keep us going. I am so thrilled to welcome our colleagues and peers to the ITA awards in March. After having persevered through two such tough years of our lives, I think it’s important to reunite as a community and celebrate each other.”
Anu Ranjan adds, “The light at the end of the tunnel feels closer than ever before. We see hope. As a community of artists and storytellers, we’ve been through some rough times. But it’s only when the going got tough that people realised the value of entertainment and entertainers who kept them going through the darkest hours. ITA celebrates that very indomitable spirit of artistes and in its 21st year, that’s a landmark for so many reasons together, we are thrilled to be hosting our event.”
