It’s 20 years of NTR Jr & S S Rajamouli elevating cinema in India

Superstar NTR Jr is poised to make history with the theatrical release of his first pan-India film, RRR helmed by the one and only S. S. Rajamouli, who has a penchant for creating visually-striking magnum opuses. The Aravinda Sametha actor shares a special bond with the filmmaker and both have known each other for 20 years now. Both began their journey in the film industry in 2001. The actor and director collaborated for the first time for Student No. 1; sparks flew and their work chemistry resulted in four collaborations including the much anticipated RRR. Their upcoming release marks 20 years of them knowing each other as colleagues, friends and family.

During media interactions, NTR Jr is all praises for the director. The superstar fondly refers to Rajamouli as Jakanna. When the director-actor duo are on any public platform, the mutual respect, love and bromance between the two is palpable. The director has often claimed that the superstar is the face of South Indian cinema across the world, while NTR Jr turns to the maverick for guidance. The RRR actor remarks that each of his collaborations with the stellar director has been a learning curve for him. He shares that being repeated in his films is an honour. Their collaborations in the past include Student No. 1, Simhadri and Yamadonga. These have been massive hits and given the duo’s record of blockbusters, RRR is touted to be the biggest film of the post-pandemic era.

RRR brought a host of challenges for NTR Jr, which he overcame with Jakkana’s support and his own determination to give the viewers a movie that pulls them to the theatres. He has put on muscle for his role of Komaram Bheem, performed dangerous stunts and dubbed in his own voice in four languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. Knowing that he has pushed his limits, the fans are thrilled to see him in the role of a freedom fighter and the protector of the Gond tribe.
