World Television Day: TV has a very dedicated audience: Himanshu Malhotra
Himanshu Malhotra has been a part of the entertainment industry for over 16 years. Having done TV shows like “Kaisi Laagi Lagan”, “Aapki Antara”, “Mariam Khan – Reporting Live”, “Dil Jaise Dhadke… Dhadakne Do”, the actor feels that the TV audience will always come back to it, no matter what the other platforms are offering.
Speaking on the occasion of World Television Day, which is observed on November 21, he said, “TV has a very dedicated audience. The audience can switch to watch some other platform for a little while but they will always come back to TV. There are still so many places in India where people only stick to watching TV, they don’t even know what OTT is. So you can never take the TV audience away.”
Sharing his views on how TV plays a vital role in presenting different issues that affect people, the “Chikoo Ki Mummy Durr Kei” actor said, “TV has always been the people’s medium. While keeping the viewers entertained, it not just focuses on the different issues and subjects that need to be brought to attention, but it also presents a progressive mindset that we should move ahead with time and even our mindset.”
Himanshu also stressed that the shows on Indian TV have evolved remarkably. He said, “The biggest change I can see is around family dramas, from showing that a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law are always enemies, we now present stories where they are best friends. This is one of the most noticeable changes that I feel everyone has seen.”
“Also, the kind of shows that are being made, we are exploring various genres, different concepts and making shows that the audience can relate to. I am sure we will make more progressive content in the coming days and TV will keep evolving,” Himanshu concluded.
