As the pandemic hopefully wanes, it is time to start enjoying the things we had once taken for granted. Like visiting cinema halls and going to the movies with friends and family. This festive season, relive the joy of watching your favourite stars on the biggest screen of them all. Here is an overview of the films you can catch in a theatre near you.

Sooryavanshi: This is the big budget Rohit Shetty entertainer that the pandemic had put on hold and now will finally release on November 5. Produced by Reliance Entertainment, Rohit Shetty Picturez, Dharma Productions, and Cape of Good Films, the film stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in lead roles and is the fourth cop story that Shetty has brought to life in his own, inimitable way. Akshay stars as as an Anti-Terrorism Squad chief DCP Veer Sooryavanshi while Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh and Jaaved Jaaferi play supporting roles.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings: After raking in massive, record breaking collections all over the world, this superhero film based on Marvel Comics’ Shang-Chi character, has made major waves even in India from the time it was released on 2 September. It finally released in Maharashtra as well in October. The 25th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), produced by Marvel Studios and released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, this Destin Daniel Cretton directorial is a visual extravaganza and stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi with Awkwafina, Meng’er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, Benedict Wong, Michelle Yeoh, Ben Kingsley, and Tony Leung. The story revolves around Shang-Chi who has to grapple with his past and reconfigure his future after his father, Wenwu dies.

Chehre: Produced by Anand Pandit, Chehre has raked in audience appreciation for its writing, performances of its ensemble cast and the charisma of Amitabh Bachchan. The Rumi Jafry directorial is now also playing in Maharashtra and is on its way to a few prestigious, international film festivals as well. The genre of a mystery thriller has clicked along with the unexplored vistas of Slovakia that filled up the big screen with their breathtaking beauty.This is perhaps why the film that was released on 27 August, is still enjoying a good run. The film also stars Krystle D’Souza, Rhea Chakraborty, Siddhanth Kapoor, Annu Kapoor, Alexx O’Nell, Dhritiman Chatterjee and Raghubir Yadav in pivotal roles.

Bellbottom: This was the first film to hit theatres after a long lull on August 19 and finally released in Maharashtra too in October. This highjack drama produced by Pooja Entertainment and headlined by Akshay Kumar has been a hit with theatregoers and exhibitors alike. Revolving around a nail biting hostage rescue mission, the Ranjit M Tewari directorial also stars Lara Dutta, Vaani Kapoor and Huma Qureshi and was shot during the pandemic in Scotland and London.

No Time to Die: Does Bond live to tell the tale? Well, you don’t need to wait any more to know the answer as this long goodbye by Daniel Craig has wowed audiences all over the world and in India too with its surprise ending. Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, the film also stars Oscar winning star Rami Malek as the villain Lucifer Safin, Lea Seydoux as Bond’s love interest and Lashana Lynch who is slated to be the first female 007 in the next film. Ben Whishaw plays MI6 quartermaster Q and Ralph Fiennes plays the MI6 chief M. Produced by Eon Productions and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the film is one thrilling ride you should not miss.
