It was on 22nd April, 5 years ago that we got introduced to the work of filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, with the movie, Nil Battey Sannata, which received immense love and praise from across quarters.

Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s journey, coming from a middle class background, to working in the advertising world for years to today being one of the country’s most critically acclaimed film directors, is a sweet one.

With no prior connections in the industry, she carved her own path and achieved success right from the beginning. After Nil Battey Sannata, she delivered other successes too like Bareilly ki Barfi starring Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkumar Rao among others and Panga starring Kangana Ranaut, Richa Chadda, Neena Gupta among others.

The filmmakers took to her social media and shared some pictures from behind the scenes and also the impact the film has made in different languages.

Not just this, Ashwiny is in fact one of the few multi-talented personalities of the industry who has also worked on her debut novel as an author, ‘Mapping Love’ in the fiction space, which is rare.

She announced only yesterday how she has decided to push the release of her novel, given the grim times we are all living in, because of the pandemic.
