Guwahati Book Fare opens gate for its 33rd season with release of honourable PM Narendra Modi’s 2 books
Assam Publication Board’s 33rd Guwahati Book Fair has started on Wednesday 30th December, 2020 with a bang at Chandmari Engineering College Ground.
The 12-day book fair, which is scheduled from December 30, 2020 to January 10th, 2021 saw footfalls in thousands on its very first day. The highlight of the fair is that there are 126 stalls stationed in total.
“The inauguration ceremony of 33rd Guwahati Book Fair is a huge success with unprecedented gatherings of book lovers from the nook and corners of the state. Post lockdown, this is the first mega event in Guwahati which has brought fresh breath of air to the public,” says Pramod Kalita, Secretary Publication Board.
“All COVID-19 protocols has been maintained at the literary festival, which is a landmark annual event in Guwahati. Assam Publication Board continues with its work during lockdown. We published 31 new books and reprinted 41 books. We are happy to receive huge support from all across.” Mr. Kalita further adds.
The first book which was released is called, Aai Loi Sithi, an Assamese translation of Narendra Modi’s popular Letter to Mother by noted author and translator Utpal Dutta. It is released by Hrishikesh Goshwami, Press Advisor to CM of Assam.
“Letter to Mother is all about internal conflict as a RSS Pracharak of Narendra Modi and his unconditional love to the mother land. If one wants to know more about our PM’s philosophy of life, this book can be the ideal one,” says Utpal Dutta.
The second book released is Mor Priya Deshbashi which is a compilation of inspiring stories selected from Narendra Modi’s much acclaimed radio program Mann Ki Baat by Namrata Dutta, a popular Guwahati based author. Besides these 2 books, 12 books were released in total.
“Assamese Language is a very sweet language,” says Tathagata Roy, Former Governor, Tripura, eminent writer and thinker.
“Book is powerful than arms,” says Hrishikesh Goshwami, Press advisor to CM of Assam. The Lifetime Achievement Award for Assam Publication Board was conferred to Dr. Pathankot, but he could not be present due to health issues.
Also graced the inaugural ceremony were Dr. Himnata Biswa Sarma, Hon Minister of Finance, Health and Education and President, Assam Publication Board, Sjt. Yese Dorje Thongchi, Eminent Writer, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sjt Govind Tyd.
