While many have shied away from essaying homosexual characters on screen, Zareen chose to push the envelope and steps into the role of Mansi a lesbian girl.

The riveting film has been a subject of heated discussion ever since its announcement and even won ‘Best Film’ at its World Premiere in New York at the South Asian International Film Festival. ‘Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele’ was also showcased this year in January at the Rajasthan International Film Festival, where it won Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress award.

Says Zareen Khan, “Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele is honestly a film very close to my heart and one I feel strongly about. With the taboos surrounding sexual orientations in our country, films like these are so important to shed light on the issue so that we begin to live in a society free of judgement.” Adding that, “It feels wonderful when the film receives the accolades it has at festivals like the South Asian International Film Festival and the Rajasthan International Film Festival and we are all set to take the film to Melbourne where it takes centre stage at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. We are so glad that the film and its message is travelling far and wide and reaching audiences across the globe.”

A humane story of two friends Veer and Mansi – Veer who’s gay and Mansi, who’s a lesbian, Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele takes audiences on a road trip and a turn of events that change their lives. The film soon readies for its OTT release.
