Shweta Tripathi Sharma channels her inner Kill Bill energy in these pics from Mirzapur 2
If a film epitomized women empowerment, it is the brilliant Uma Thurman starrer Kill Bill. 2003 Quentin Tarantino classic has achieved an immortal status in the genre of revenge dramas. Thus, it is no surprise that while shooting for her own version of a revenge saga, Shweta Tripathi Sharma channelized her inner Uma Thurman for her character Golu in the second season of Mirzapur. Ready to avenge the deaths of her sister Sweety and Bablu (played by Shriya Pilgaonkar and Vikrant Massey respectively), Golu has unleashed an unseen before deadly streak from within herself. Smeared in blood, the girl is ready to battle it out with the gang lords of Mirzapur to take revenge.
Shweta says that the rage of Golu was the hardest part for her to crack. “There are many cinematic references. Kill Bill surely tops the list. It was important to understand the Golu is the kind of woman who takes the lead. She cannot be oppressed or be struggling in the face of adversity. Golu’s survival energy was what I internalized for my part. There’s a steely resolve in Golu, coupled with uncontrollable rage. The second season for me was such a unique experience. Never could I have imagined playing something like this and here I am, in the release week. There are butterflies for the response and the hope that I have surprised my fans like never before.”
