Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan’s Namrrata Pradhan on Manohar Choosing His Daughter’s Happiness Over Marriage Woes: “No Marriage Should Cost a Woman Her Life”

From addressing the deep-rooted preference for having a son to highlighting the importance of girl education, Zee TV’s Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan, starring Amandeep Sidhu (Sneha) and Sheizaan Khan (Siddhu) in lead roles, has consistently brought socially relevant conversations to the forefront. The show is now set to spotlight another pressing societal issue- the immense pressure on women to constantly compromise to save their marriages, often at the cost of their dignity and well-being.

In the recently released promo, Manohar (Vijay Kaushik) finally realises his responsibility as a father and takes a stand for his daughter Sahana (Namrrata Pradhan), who has repeatedly gone to great lengths to save her marriage, even putting her life at risk. Despite her efforts, however, her marriage continues to fall apart. Refusing to let his daughter compromise any further, Manohar arrives with a band-baja baraat to bring Sahana home, choosing to stand by her and prioritise her dignity over societal expectations.

Talking about the upcoming track, Namrrata Pradhan, who essays Sahana, shares how this is a much-needed story that society needs to hear, especially in today’s times. “Sahana has gone to every extent to save her marriage and prove her innocence, but unfortunately, the circumstances keep pushing her into a corner where she feels she has no option left. What makes her journey even more heartbreaking is that despite everything she does, her husband still refuses to believe her. Through Sahana, I have understood how often women are made to feel that saving a marriage is solely their responsibility, even when they have done everything they possibly can. I have heard and come across so many such stories in real life, where women continue to sacrifice themselves just to keep a marriage intact.”

The actress further adds, “That is why I truly love the message this track brings forward. Sahana’s father finally realising his mistake and choosing to stand by her sends out a very important message, that when a marriage is no longer working despite every effort, a woman should not be pressured to stay at the cost of her dignity or life. Sometimes, the biggest support a parent can give their daughter is simply telling her, ‘You don’t have to endure this alone. Come home.’”

Now that Sahana will be staying with Manohar, it will be interesting to see how this changes the narrative. With Indu Rani (Shraddha Jaiswal) unlikely to stay quiet, it remains to be seen what she does next to get Sahana out of the house.
