Divya Dutta, who carried Chiraiya on her shoulders, is now set to be seen as a strong antagonist opposite Manoj Bajpayee in Last Man in Tower

Divya Dutta, who carried Chiraiya on her shoulders, is now stepping into another lead role as a strong antagonist opposite Manoj Bajpayee in Last Man in Tower.The role puts her at the centre of a compelling face-off with Bajpayee in the much-anticipated adaptation of Aravind Adiga’s acclaimed bestseller.

The film brings together two powerhouse performers at the centre of a tense battle of wills, as Dutta and Bajpayee find themselves on opposing sides of a conflict fuelled by ambition, greed, insecurity and the desperate need to hold on to what matters most.

Known for performances that bring depth and nuance to complex characters, Dutta takes on a role that refuses to fit neatly into the conventional definition of a villain. Her character operates in the grey, driven by desires and pressures that gradually push the conflict towards a breaking point.

Speaking about the role, Divya Dutta said, “Playing an antagonist in Last Man in Tower has been an incredibly exciting experience for me. There are so many shades to the character, and what drew me in was the opportunity to explore the grey spaces of human behaviour and what people are capable of when their desires take over.”

Directed by Ben Rekhi, the film features a screenplay and adaptation by Sooni Taraporevala, with dialogues by Juhi Chaturvedi. It is produced by Rana Daggubati, Ben Rekhi, Guneet Dogra and Pratiksha Rao.

The film releases on September 11.
