Actress Roma Arora’s New Year Begins on a Shocking Note: The Harsh Realities of the Film Industry Revealed!

Actress Roma Arora’s New Year Begins on a Shocking Note: The Harsh Realities of the Film Industry Revealed!

As the calendar flipped to 2025, Roma Arora’s New Year seemed to have begun on an unusual and, dare we say, unfair note. A recent post by her caught our attention, sparking curiosity and concern among her fans.
Roma who has been a part of successful tv shows like Jhanak and Kundali Bhagya has done a film called ‘Pyar Mein Qurban’ which released on 3rd January, 2025 in PVR cinemas all across India. Three songs from the movie, featuring her, have already been released on Zee Music Company.
But the saddest part is that despite playing the female lead in the film, Roma has not been paid for her work. Apart from an initial small amount, she has received no further payment. To make matters worse, the cheques provided by the producer bounced.

Sharing her concerns on social media, Roma expressed, “It’s been nine months of follow-ups and calls with no response. I wasn’t invited to the film’s promotions, and now the producer, Imtiyaz Bhat, has blocked me on social media. All because I wanted to work professionally by having a signed contract. Despite being the lead in the film, my picture was removed from the final poster.”

And it’s not only me there are other co-actors and crew members who have not been paid. In the final schedule, they blocked multiple dates for my remaining four days of shooting but later decided to cancel and remove my scenes, simply because I insisted on having a signed contract. This led to a reduction in my screen time. Despite several requests for a proper contract, my concerns were ignored. The director of the film, Zuber K. Khan, was making his debut as a director. Despite my repeated complaints about my unsigned contract and pending payment, he showed little concern about the matter. Instead, he insisted and pressured me to continue shooting, complete dubbing, and attend promotions without addressing my legitimate concerns. We began shooting in January 2023, and it took over a year to complete the film. During this time, numerous dates were blocked and schedules were repeatedly postponed, showcasing a high level of unprofessionalism. As a result, I had to turn down several work opportunities. For instance, I was selected for DJ’s a Creative Unit’s show named Professor Pandey Ke Paanch Parivaar, but had to decline because my dates were tied up with this film. Also that year, I was shooting for a Sony TV show called Katha Ankahee, and it became quite challenging to manage my dates due to the unplanned schedule, which led to clashes. Unfortunately, the movie shoot never happened, and I lost other opportunities as well. Their lack of professionalism and organization cost me valuable chances.

Despite this bad experience, I am still grateful for the opportunity. I wish the film all the best, as it represents the hard work of the entire cast and crew. Everyone has given their time and effort.

When contacted, she explained that she chose to speak out now to reveal the harsh realities of the industry and share the truth about the unfair professional experiences she faced. She hopes to offer a valuable lesson to her co-actors and others in the industry, emphasizing the importance of proper documentation and signed contracts. Never rely on spoken words in a professional setting. Actions matter, and written contracts hold the real value—not verbal promises. Through her difficult experience, she aims to safeguard others and highlight how crucial clear agreements are in any professional setting.

Despite this setback, Roma remains optimistic and hopeful. She shared that this was her first unprofessional experience in an otherwise smooth journey and is confident it will also be her last. With a positive outlook, she looks forward to working with ethical and professional producers and directors, embracing new opportunities, and creating many fulfilling and joyful experiences in the industry.
