ECL Season 2 Auction Highlights: Top Players and Record-Breaking Bids
Following the tremendous success of its debut season, the Entertainers Cricket League (ECL) has taken the excitement up a notch as it gears up for Season 2. The league, which boasts a digital footprint of over 800 million fans across platforms, combines the excitement of cricket with the global appeal of social media influencers and entertainers, creating a unique sports entertainment experience. This year, the stakes are higher with three new teams joining the fray, making the competition even more intense and dynamic.
The ECL Season 2 auction, held in Mumbai, witnessed an electrifying atmosphere with record-breaking bids and top-tier talent in the spotlight. This season is set to raise the bar on and off the field, as teams have spared no expense in acquiring the finest players, further intensifying the anticipation among fans.
Bobby Yadav emerged as the breakout star of the auction. Starting with a modest base price of just 20 lakh ECL Coins, Bobby’s price skyrocketed as teams vied for his services. The bidding reached a fever pitch, with Lucknow Lions securing Bobby for a record-breaking 280 lakh ECL Coins, making him the first player in ECL history to cross the 200 lakh mark. His explosive talent and versatility will make him a pivotal figure for the Lions this season.
The auction also saw other exceptional players bagging eye-watering sums. Zala Vanrajsinh, known for his power-hitting abilities, was acquired by the Bangalore Bashers for a massive 260 lakh ECL Coins, solidifying the Bashers’ quest for glory. Vishal Choudhary, a consistent powerhouse in past season, was snapped up by the Haryanvi Hunters for 250 lakh ECL Coins, bolstering their batting strength. The Chennai Smashers made waves by securing Gulshan Nain for 200 lakh ECL Coins. A versatile all-rounder, Gulshan’s ability to contribute with both bat and ball brings invaluable balance to the Smashers’ squad. Bhupendra Sharma, a proven match-winner, was bought by the Rajasthan Rangers for 190 lakh ECL Coins, adding another key player to their already formidable team.
This season will feature eight franchises led by renowned captains who bring unique leadership styles to the field. Elvish Yadav leads the defending champions Haryanvi Hunters, while Munawar Faruqui captains the Mumbai Disrupters. The lineup also includes Zayn Saifi for Rajasthan Rangers, Abhishek Malhan for Bangalore Bashers, Pushkar Raj Thakur for Kolkata Superstars, Mahesh Keshwala for Chennai Smashers, Gaurav Taneja for Dynamic Delhi, and Anurag Dwivedi for Lucknow Lions.
