“A Real Eye-Opener on Corruption” – Neil Nitin Mukesh on Hisaab Barabar, Premiering on ZEE5 on January 24
ZEE5 is set to kick off the new year with a gripping thriller, Hisaab Barabar, starring Neil Nitin Mukesh in a never-seen-before avatar. Directed by the acclaimed Ashwini Dhir, the film delves into themes of financial accountability and systemic corruption, promising a thrilling ride for audiences. The much-anticipated film is slated for release on January 24, 2025.
Neil Nitin Mukesh essays the role of Mickey Mehta, a morally ambiguous yet fascinating character whose journey through financial deceit and personal redemption forms the crux of the narrative. Talking about what drew him to the role, Mukesh shared, “The script of Hisaab Barabar was a real page-turner for me. The complexity of the characters, the twists and turns in the plot, and the themes of financial accountability and systemic corruption really resonated with me. When Ashwini Dhir sir narrated the script, I knew I had to play Mickey Mehta – he’s a fascinating, morally grey character who embodies the flaws and vulnerabilities of human nature. So eccentric and deliciously written was Mickey Mehta that I was drawn to playing him on screen.”
The film aims to shed light on the dark underbelly of financial scams and the impact they have on the common man. Mukesh further elaborated on how the role changed his perspective, “Playing Mickey Mehta was a real eye-opener for me. It made me realize how easy it is to get caught up in the ‘web’ of corruption and how it can affect people’s lives. The film sheds light on financial scams and their repercussions, making it a wake-up call for all of us to be more aware and vigilant. Honestly, I’ve been checking and monitoring my bank statements very closely after this film.”
On preparing for the unconventional role, the actor revealed, “To get into the skin of Mickey Mehta, I did a lot of research on people involved in financial scams. I watched films on similar themes, like The Wolf of Wall Street. But what truly shaped my portrayal was working closely with my director, Ashwini Dhir sir, to understand the character’s motivations and backstory. He had a distinct vision for Mickey Mehta, and I wanted to deliver my best for him. I experimented with different mannerisms, body language, and tone of voice, almost breaking away from my comfort zone.”
With a compelling narrative, stellar performances, and a thought-provoking message, Hisaab Barabar is all set to captivate audiences when it premieres on ZEE5 on January 24, 2025.
