Sharib Hashmi Opens Up About Creative Collaboration and Challenges While Filming ‘Khoj’
Do you share feedback on the script / dialogues? Do you improvise or follow the director’s vision? Tell us specifically for Khoj.
Yes, of course, we share our feedback on the script, dialogues, and everything else. Everyone discusses and finalizes things together, and we have many creative discussions before locking anything. This is a team effort, and no individual can take responsibility for everything. We work on things together, improvise, and share our inputs. If the director agrees, he incorporates our suggestions, and if he doesn’t, we go ahead with his vision because he is the captain of the ship. Everyone needs to contribute as a team and work in one direction, but the overall vision is the director’s, so we follow that. At the same time, if we feel something can be improved, we share our inputs. We did this for Khoj as well.
We heard that the series was shot in under 15 days. How hectic was the shoot? What were some of the challenges faced while shooting for Khoj?
The shoot was pretty hectic, especially since most of it happened at night. Working late hours often leaves you feeling zoned out, and staying focused becomes a real challenge. But when the script is strong, it makes all the difference—I found myself pushing harder to give my best in every scene. We didn’t really have proper breaks; the only pauses we got were during location changes. Otherwise, it was constant work and travel from one city to another. It wasn’t just me, though—everyone in the crew worked so hard. The passion everyone brought to the table was truly inspiring. The director and the DOP were always on their toes, making sure everything was perfect. It wasn’t an easy shoot for me. It was physically draining, and at times, it felt overwhelming. But honestly, I loved every moment of it, the challenges made the experience even more rewarding.”
