Raksha Bandhan 2024: Bekaaboo 3 fame Nikkita Ghag on her unique Raksha Bandhan gift: “My brother gifted me a horse, and now I have one of my own”
As Raksha Bandhan approaches, actress and producer Nikkita Ghag, known for her powerful performances in hit series like Bekaaboo 3 and Fuh Se Fantasy, opens up about her unique celebrations and the deeper meaning of the festival. Nikkita has firmly established herself as a versatile talent in the entertainment industry, leaving a lasting impression on audiences through her diverse roles. With a career spanning both acting and production, her success is further underscored by her work on the series Anandi on Disney Plus Hotstar, and her recent lead role in Altt’s Pyaar Ka Bazaar Karobaar.
However, as the festival of Raksha Bandhan draws near, Nikkita reflects on the bonds she cherishes and the importance of protection, not just for siblings, but for all women, Nikkita shares, “I don’t have siblings, so I celebrate Raksha Bandhan with my dogs, who are like my babies. To me, the true meaning of Raksha Bandhan is about those who protect you, and my dogs always protect me. I also celebrate it with my cousin, who means a lot to me and has always protected me in all aspects of life. I celebrate this day with my cousin and my little ones.”
When it comes to memorable Raksha Bandhan gifts, Nikkita recalls two particularly unique presents that left a lasting impact, “My most memorable Raksha Bandhan gift over the years is when my brother registered a star in my name—a very special star with my name on it. He gifted me the entire package, making it a truly unique gift. Another memorable gift is a horse. I love horses, and my brother, who owns a stable, gifted me one, so now I have a horse of my own.”
For Nikkita, the celebration of Raksha Bandhan also extends to the innocent lives that often go unnoticed—the stray animals, she says, “I don’t have any special traditions, but we celebrate by tying rakhis and then having a party. Personally, after the celebration, I make it a point to feed stray animals, as they too protect us in their own way.”
Beyond the celebrations and gifts, Nikkita reflects on the true essence of Raksha Bandhan—protection and care, especially in a society where women’s safety remains a critical issue, she says, “Raksha Bandhan is not just about celebrating one day; it’s about protecting the women in our society every day. True protection is about making them feel safe and secure in society. It’s not just about your own sister, but every woman around you. Sadly, there are numerous cases of brothers violating their sisters on Raksha Bandhan, which is heartbreaking. If you look at the statistics, especially in cases like the one in Kolkata, it’s clear that women are not safe in this country. It’s crucial that boys are raised with strong values, as proper upbringing is key to reducing the increasing number of rape cases in India. There needs to be more awareness and a focus on raising children well to address this issue.”
