Sujay Reu discusses the new phase of ‘Shrimad Ramayan’ as the show moves to Sony SAB
‘Shrimad Ramayan’ is unveiling its grand new phase on Sony SAB from August 12th. Sujay Reu, who brings the revered character of Lord Ram to life, is set to portray the upcoming phase of the epic saga as Lord Ram returns to Ayodhya with Sita (Prachi Bansal) following the Mahayudh and defeating Raavan (Nikitin Dheer).
In this exclusive interview, Sujay shares insights into his preparation for the dramatic Mahayudh scene, reflects on the rewarding experiences of playing Ram, and discusses the life lessons he has learned from this timeless role. He also explores the upcoming journey of Lord Ram and the exciting future of ‘Shrimad Ramayan’ as the show has now transitioned to Sony SAB.
The first episode on Sony SAB features the ultimate battle between Ram and Raavan. How did you prepare for such an action-packed scene and the dialogues?
Preparing for this climactic Mahayudh involved extensive briefing and practice, given its higher intensity compared to the previous battles. Shooting war scenes has become a familiar part of my role as Lord Ram, but this particular sequence demanded a new level of focus and effort. When it comes to dialogues, portraying Lord Ram for the past eight months has made delivering profound lines more natural. I also already have a strong Hindi pronunciation, so that really helps, but I’m more focused on capturing the right emotions to make the scene impactful.
How will this new phase of ‘Shrimad Ramayan’ differ from the earlier episodes, and what can viewers look forward to?
I believe most of the people are aware of the Ramayan up until Raavan’s end, but not the journey that Lord Ram and Sita have after returning to Ayodhya. The new phase of Shrimad Ramayan delves into the lesser-known aspects of the epic, offering a fresh perspective on the story. This phase explores the emotional and intricate details of Lord Ram’s return to Ayodhya, the establishment of Ram Rajya, the tearful separation of Ram and Sita and the trials faced by Sita. Viewers will see deeper explorations of Sita’s time in Lord Valmiki’s ashram where she raises her sons, Luv and Kush. This chapter brings to light many untold stories, promising a richer and more enriching storytelling for the audience.
Would you like to convey any messages to your audience as Ramayana is going to be now on Sony SAB?
Yes, the show has shifted to Sony SAB from 12th August and I hope we get the same love and support from viewers as we have been given before. As we move into this new phase of Ramayan, I’m looking forward to the narrative as Lord Ram begins his efforts to establish Ram Rajya and I believe the audience should tune in to explore the emotional and personal struggles that follow his victory, including the emotional separation from Sita.
What have been your life lessons from the portrayal of Ram?
From Lord Ram’s life, I’ve learned the value of small, thoughtful actions, patience, and the importance of unwavering faith in overcoming life’s toughest challenges. In today’s fast-moving world, Lord Ram’s dedication and resilience remind us to face problems with clarity and a strong sense of purpose. This lesson has really stayed with me.
What has been the most rewarding part of bringing the ancient tale of Ramayana to life for a modern audience?
The most rewarding part is introducing the show to the younger generation, who might not be familiar with the epic, to the rich details and the lives of Lord Ram and Sita. It’s a chance to remind everyone of the timeless values and influence of the Ramayana in today’s world. Even after many years, people continue to learn from Lord Ram’s life and teachings. Personally, it also brings me great joy when parents bring their children to the sets and share that their kids eagerly watch every episode of Ramayan. This connection and enthusiasm from viewers truly make the experience fulfilling.
Tune in to watch Shrimad Ramayan on Sony SAB from 12th August, Mon-Sat at 7.30 PM
