Terence Lewis Commends Contestant Shivanshu Soni’s Performance on ‘India’s Best Dancer 3′, saying “It’s not easy to portray a negative character like Shahrukh Khan did in ‘Darr”
This weekend, Sony Entertainment Television’s homegrown dance reality show, ‘India’s Best Dancer Season 3,’ is set to wow viewers like never before! With the theme of ‘Best Ka International Test,’ the contestants will be put to the test as they will need to perform an international dance style to perfection. The fusion of cultures will create a visual spectacle as the videsi tadka will be mixed with desi melodies from the 90s. One contestant that will step up to the challenge will be Bhopal’s Shivanshu Soni, with his choreographer, Swetha Warrier, as they take on the dramatic ‘Paso Doble’ style of dance and perform to the intense track, ‘Satrangi Re’.
This Matador act saw Shivanshu break free of the serene and graceful acts he’s performed in the last few weeks and take on an act that tells a story through sharp, staccato movements and striking body poses. His enactment of the matador, showcasing anger, fear, and a fiery passion, was depicted in an aggressive performance that thoroughly captivated the judges. So much so that it made Judge Terence Lewis compare the emotion Shivanshu brought alive in this act to that of Shahrukh Khan’s character in Darr.
Commending Shivanshu’s remarkable performance and Swetha’s brilliant choreography, judge Terence Lewis will say, “Inspired by the Spanish tradition, the choreography in Shivanshu’s performance today was nothing short of fantastic. Few actors and choreographers can achieve what Shivanshu did today. I must say, well done in every aspect; it was superb. Shivanshu’s portrayal was very close to the form. There’s a posture in this dance form that is both masculine and stretched up, and capturing that essence is crucial. The bull, being in the arena with many people around, is fearless and unleashes its energy. You embodied that spirit, Shivanshu. As a matador, Swetha, you were fearless, regal, and majestic. Grace and flair, along with maintaining eye contact, were very important elements. Shivanshu, the way you justified and expressed the mood of the character, and seamlessly transitioned into a completely different persona, was very difficult. It’s not easy to completely transform and portray a negative character like Shahrukh Khan did in ‘Darr.’Hat’s off.”
Agreeing with Terence, Geeta Kapur will also commend Shivanshu for stepping out of his comfort zone and taking a big risk by trying a different dance form like Paso Doble.
Tune in to watch Shivanshu transform in the ‘Best Ka International Test’ on India’s Best Dancer 3, this weekend at 8 pm, only on Sony Entertainment Television
