It is said that love is blind. Most of the time it is oblivious to caste, creed, religion or financial status of the person. But when it comes to interfaith marriages, our society furiously disapproves of such relationships, especially the ones between the Hindu-Muslim couples. ‘Shubh Nikah’ is one such heartfelt story of Zoya and Munna who are madly in love with each other and can go to any extent to be with eaxh other, but there families dissuades them to be in a relationship and forget about marrying in future. For their families their religions come first before anything else.

But Zoya and Munna, both belonging to a different and conservative Muslim and Hindu family respectively, decide to fight against all the odds and do whatever it takes to be with each other. The story of cross cultural love birds is told in a very captivating and realistic manner. The writer and director of ‘Shubh Nikah’, Arshad Siddiqui presents this beautiful interfaith love story of Zoya and Munna with such sensitivity that it is bound to touch the core of the audiences.

Aksha Pardasany as Zoya and Rohit Vikkram as Munna had given terrific and heartfelt performances which are worth applauding. Both the lead actors of the film are best suited for their parts and leave no stone unturned to look and feel the parts. Arsh Sandhu, a boy who is also deeply in love with Zoya, also impresses with his clinical performance. The casting of all other character artists is also top notch and nicely supports the film throughout.

Writer-Director Arshad Siddiqui delivers the film with the right amount of emotions without being preachy or going overboard. The film had so much scope of melodrama but the captain of the ship Arshad Siddiqui chooses the path of restrain while conveying the important message of love and respecting the feelings of the couples irrespective of their castes or religions.

Obviously, previoulsy there have been innumerable films which were based on Hindu-Muslim love stories, but ‘Shubh Nikah’ is different in the sense that it tells the story in a hard hitting way it deaerved to be told. It’s an out and out emotional and family drama which show mirror to our hypocritical society but it is also a very entertaining film. The twist and turns and the interesting plot keeps you hooked till the end.
