“I’m sure my journey in COLORS ‘Durga Aur Charu’ will equally be exciting and adventurous as it was in Barrister Babu.” says Aurra Bhatnagar
1. Tell us something about the show.
A. Taking the legacy ahead of ‘Barrister Babu’, ‘Durga Aur Charu’ showcases the story of Anirudh and Bondita’s daughters, Durga (elder) and Charu (younger). At a very young age, the two sisters who face a devastating blow with the passing of their parents are eventually separated. This traumatising incident takes a toll on Durga, and she grows up to be a shy and meek girl unlike her mother. She is raised by her grandparents Binoy and Sampoorna in the Roy Chowdhary mansion. Her elder sister, Charu is raised by street performers, Banke and Bholi. She has grown to be a fearless girl just like her mother, Bondita. While both the sisters aspire to become barristers, they’re oblivious to each other’s existence. Will they know that they’re sisters and unite?
2. Tell us something about your character?
A. I am playing the role of Durga, the elder daughter of Anirudh and Bondita and Charu’s sister. In her childhood, Durga witnesses her parents’ death and gets separated from her sister Charu. Owing to this trauma, Durga, who lives with her grandparents grows up to become a shy and subservient person bust aspires to become a Barrister.
3. Why did you choose to be a part of the show?
A. ‘Barrister Babu’ has been a great success on television and has a huge fan base. I am aware of the love and affection people have for ‘Barrister Babu’. Considering it all, I chose ‘Durga Aur Charu’ as a great chance for me to explore acting.
4. How have you been balancing your studies and work?
A. I study when I get breaks on the shoot and while traveling to the set. The production and everyone else from the crew have been very supportive. I get timely breaks, so that I can also focus on my studies. I often have my parents on the set, and they ensure that there is no lag in my academics.
5. How is your equation with your co-actors?
A. I share a great bond with all the actors on the set. I’m surrounded by experienced actors who are patient with my performance and guide me in acing its nuances. There are other actors of my age on the set and it’s fun to play, act and study with them. I enjoy a lot with Vaishnavi and Chandan Sir. Sir makes us laugh all the time and keep motivating us.
6. Any special preparation you did for your character?
A. I worked on my body language and tone for my character Durga. She is the opposite of Bondita who was fearless and a happy-go-lucky girl. I brought softness to my tonality and learnt the expressions of a shy and underconfident girl.
7. What are your ambitions in life?
A. I want to continue being an actor and I’m figuring out what else I want to do in my life. As of now, I’m just going with the flow. I want to explore every opportunity that comes my way.
8. What is your message to the viewers?
A. ‘Durga Aur Charu’ is a heartfelt story of two sisters who get separated at a very young age and their journey of finding each other. I hope that the show gets love and blessings from the viewers.
10. You have been a part of Barrister Babu, how different is your journey going to be in Durga Aur Charu?
A. I feel grateful to have played the role of Bondita in Barrister Babu. The show and my character have always been close to my heart. I created a lot of memories on the set with my co-actors and my stint was short but a memorable one. For the new chapter in the show a grown-up Bondita was introduced, and I bid farewell to it. Today with destiny playing a role in my life, the role of Durga came my way and I can’t put in words my excitement for the sh0w. I’m sure my journey in Durga Aur Charu will be phenomenal. I’m hopeful that this show will entertain the audience and will be successful in continuing the legacy of Barrister Babu.
11. How does it feel to be playing Bondita in Barrister Babu and now Bondita’s daughter Durga in Durga Aur Charu?
A. I feel life has come to a full circle for me. From essaying the role of Bondita in Barrister Babu earlier and n0w Bondita’s daughter Durga in Durga Aur Charu, I feel blessed and grateful to COLORS for giving me these opportunities. When I was offered Durga’s role I was on cloud nine. The show Barrister Babu was a turning point in my life back then and I have learnt a lot from my co-actors and the team of COLORS. I’m sure my journey in Durga Aur Charu will equally be exciting and adventurous. I’m looking forward to a great response and love from the viewers for our show.
12. Which character do you love the most, young Bondita or Durga?
A. I feel whatever I am today is because of my character Bondita. I learnt a lot from the show and my character. Characteristics of both Durga and Bondita are quite opposite. Bondita was happy-go-lucky, brave, confident and fearless just like me, whereas Durga is meek, underconfident and timid. It took me many months to unlearn Bondita and adapt to Durga. I am loving this journey as much as I loved Barrister Babu. Both have a special place in my heart, and it will be very difficult to choose one.
