COLORS’ actors on celebrating Diwali
The festival of lights ‘Diwali’ is around the corner and COLORS family is all set to celebrate the auspicious occasion in their style with their loved ones. Diwali signifies the triumph of good over evil and how light prevails even in the darkest days of our lives. Keeping the spirit of Diwali in mind, the stars from our favorite shows, give the audience a peak into their Diwali plans and share their memories of this beautiful festival.
Amruta Khanvilkar a contestant in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, “The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Diwali is the delicious ‘farhaal’. The selection of sweets and savories from chakli to ‘shankarpali’ to ‘karanji’ made by my mom is what I look forward to eating every year. I have always enjoyed spending time with my family on this special day. However, this Diwali, I will be busy shooting for “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa,” so I’m hoping to enjoy a small celebration with my on-set family. I’m also planning a small party with my husband and our friends. Instead of burning crackers, I’ll go eco-friendly and will be lighting “diyas”. I’d want to ask my fans to do the same and have a happy, prosperous, and safe Diwali.”
Harsh Rajput a.k.a Rocky from Pishachini, “The festival of Diwali has always been my favorite day of the year. When I was young, I can vividly remember going to the store with my father to buy sweets, lights, and firecrackers. I used to spend the day bursting firecrackers and lighting “diyas” with my cousins. Jiya, Nyrraa, and I have arranged a special surprise for the cast and crew of “Pishachini”. We hope everyone will enjoy our first Diwali celebration on the set and it will be a pleasant surprise. I’m looking forward to a quiet and low-key party at home with my family, as I will be traveling to Navsari. I wish all my fans a very happy and prosperous Diwali.”
Ankur Verma a.k.a. Rajeev Bajwa from Parineetii, “Lights, decorations, family gathering, and some amazing foods are the few things that come to my mind when I think of Diwali. Growing up in Gurgaon, Diwali was the most awaited festival of the year. Our whole extended family would get together and celebrate the festival of lights. Every year on ‘diwali’ we distribute small blankets to the underprivileged as in Delhi the winter breeze starts by this time. During Diwali I am always home, no matter where I am, I always celebrate with my family. Here’s wishing everyone a happy and prosperous Diwali. Spread love and avoid any kind of pollution, so request my fans to celebrate it without bursting crackers.”
Pratik Sehajpal a.k.a Rudra from Naagin 6, “I prefer to spend Diwali with my family, and I intend to do so again this year. Every year, we perform Laxmi Puja in the evening, followed by gorging on some delicious Diwali treats. The best part about Diwali is the food, ‘diyas’, and sweets. I hope to celebrate this year with my ‘Naagin 6’ family. This is my first fiction show and I hope that I am blessed with more such opportunities. My sister and my mother will have a small puja at home and then I have invited my friends over for dinner and some Diwali games. I wish my fans a very happy Diwali. Spread love, joy, and laughter and refrain from polluting the environment by bursting crackers.”
Surbhi Chandna a.k.a Manmeet Shergill from Sherdil Shergill, “Diwali for me is about family and friends coming together and celebrating. My parents always did a small puja at home during Diwali, and I continue that tradition. I will visit our family friends on the day of Diwali, and we also have a small potluck on ‘Sherdil Shergill’ set where the whole cast and crew have been given the responsibility of bringing some Diwali delicacies on the set. Other than that, we will celebrate the spirit of Diwali with ‘pakodas’, ‘gajar ka halwa’ and a small ‘Puja’ at home. I am not someone who believes in bursting crackers and will also advise my fans to refrain from crackers and have a safe and eco-friendly Diwali.”
Samridhii Shukla a.k.a Saavi from Saavi Ki Savaari, “Diwali has always been my favourite festival and every year we have a huge celebration at our native home, where me and my cousins would come together and help the elders clean the house and make arrangements for Laxmi Puja. We would also make ‘diyas’ and ‘rangolis’ at our house. But this year, Diwali is going to be a little different for me as I will also be celebrating this festival with my ‘Saavi Ki Savaari’ family. I am excited and geared up for a new experience and to celebrate Diwali on the set. I wish everyone a happy and prosperous Diwali.”
