The 14th season of Sony Entertainment Television’s ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ has invited a flurry of contestants from all walks of life to be a part of the prestigious gameshow and grace the hotseat opposite the living legend, host Mr Amitabh Bachchan. Contestant Aishwarya Ruparel will be seen in the coming episode and gracing the hotseat with the ambition to win big. The 27-year-old who is a practising dentist will be impressing the host and the audience with cool gameplay and engaging Mr Bachchan in some fantastic banter.
Talking about her love for the city of Mumbai, her hometown, with Big B, the contestant spoke about how she finds Mumbai locals to be the best part of the ‘City of Dreams, “My college was at a distance from my house and every day I used to spend at least four hours in the local trains. Since I used to travel so much and so frequently, I would see similar faces every day and these people became my family. Also, when you have to buy vegetables, you go to the market, to buy clothes, you go to the mall, to buy earrings you go to the shop but all of these items can be bought in the Mumbai Local, vegetables and everything. In the morning, there was a woman named Varsha, we used to call her Varsha aunty. She would cook puran poli, poha and bring it and we would eat that as our breafast and start our day. If she did not come someday, it would feel like our day has not begun, she became our habit. Sir, a world resides in Mumbai locals. By chance if you get to sit near the window, you can enjoy the cool breeze with your earphones.”
The contestant would then ask the host if he has travelled in the “lifeline of Mumbai”, the local train to which he would respond saying, “a lot of times! When I was starting out in my life and trying to make it big in the film industry, we would travel in the locals. Also, what you narrated about finding food and other things in the trains, I have also experienced it… if I found a place to stand or sit in the train car, then. Its very difficult to find space in the local. A lot of times I had to hang out of the train car which is really dangerous.” When the contestant asked if he has ever bought anything in the train, the hsot responded, “we did not even have money to eat.”
Mr Bachchan then spoke about how one could find families beyond Mumbai Locals as well because he found such a family in Delhi when he used to work there, “I have lived in Delhi and studied in Delhi University. There was a University special bus that use to ply on the route from my home to the university. The time that I used to take the bus, when I had to reach University, in that bus I found the same people who would travel at the same time as me and even I found a family in them.”
