Simran Sharma leaves Pullela Gopichand impressed with her shooting skills on BYJU’S Young Genius Season 2

National coach Pullela Gopichand has inspired millions of young athletes including 12-year-old National Para-Shooting Champion Simran Sharma. The young athlete who hails from Faridabad aims to make her mark in the field of shooting and will be seen sharing platform with her favourite Pullela Gopichand this weekend on BYJU’S Young Genius.

Driven by a passion for sports, both Simran and Gopichand will be seen discussing and having a gala time on the show. The vivid sports lover they both are, during one of the fun segments on the show both Pullela and Simran will be competing at a shooting match. It so happened that both had to shoot the balloons from a distance, and whoever shoots the maximum wins. Simran who is well versed in the sport took the charge and gave Gopichand some shooting lessons.

Commenting on his appearance on the show, Gopichand shared, “It’s commendable to see the passion these youngsters have for the sports today. Representing your country in your chosen sport is a rare honour and winning the event is the best feeling. I’m sure Simran will be an inspiration for many others too.”

Simran has many achievements to her credit. The young athlete has won a Bronze medal in her very first National Para Shooting Championship in March 2021. The journey was not at all a cakewalk for Simran. At just 9 months of age, Simran went through spinal surgery. Even after the surgery, she lost sensation below her neck. With a lot of Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation & Stem Cell treatment along with her fighting spirit, she managed to recover waist up.

BYJU’S Young Genius is a News18 initiative that inspires young prodigies from different fields across the country. This new season features prodigies aged 6-15 years showcasing their superlative achievements, in a vibrant new avatar. These 22 geniuses have been chosen from 20,000+ aspiring and inspiring child prodigies across India from different fields such as performing arts, academics, technology, and sports, to name a few. Senior Anchor Anand Narasimhan is back along with celebrities like Shankar Mahadevan, Mouni Roy, Geeta Phogat, Vidyut Jammwal, Geeta Kapoor amongst others who will be seen encouraging these young stars as they work towards putting their best foot forward.
