Vijayendra Kumeria on why festive sequences are a hit on TV: Every frame, character looks beautiful… and then comes the twists, drama that enhances the interest factor
Festive sequences in TV shows, be it fiction or nonfiction, usually generate curiosity, says Vijayendra Kumeria. The actor, who was last seen in Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha, shares that the viewers enjoy watching their favourite stars dressed up in their finery and having fun.
“During the festival season, people are in a happy mood and seeing the same vibe on TV is quite nice for them. We all enjoy good things and seeing people around us even on screen happy. That’s why festive sequences are a hit. Every frame and character looks beautiful and there is a collective feel-good factor. Along with all these, twists and drama is added to enhance the interest factor. In fact it’s the best time to introduce some new twists as almost every character of the show is present and a little bit of drama in such situations, as I just said, levels things up,” says the actor, who has been a part of shows such as Shastri Sisters, Udaan, Sasural Simar Ka and Naagin 5. Vijayendra also points out festive sequences also help in climbing up the TRP chart. He explains the reason behind it.
“This happens because of the factors like look and feel, the drama quotient and new track and character introduction or summing up of some track etc. It’s very rare that there is no rise in TRP even after festivities are shown. The reason behind the success of such glamorized sequences is that the production value increases, the episode looks better, there are a lot of things happening, the dancing, singing etc all add up and make the episode more appealing to watch,” he adds.
