Binaiferr Kohli: I like all kinds of festivals, you name it… during such good times there’s so much positivity all around
Festivals are an essential part of Indian culture. It’s the time when people from all walks of life dress up, make merry, spend quality time with loved ones, buy new things and eat good food. In fact, festive sequences on TV shows are also very popular, says producer and showrunner Binaiferr Kohli. She feels festivals are a good excuse to get dressed up, because on normal days people mostly like to laze around in their comfy outfits.
“We all look forward to such good times, getting dressed together, singing, dancing, eating etc. Diwali just went by. It’s the time when we enjoy making special sweets at home, light diyas, make rangolis, meet our near and dear ones and spend quality time,” says the producer of hit shows such as Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai!, Happu Ki ultan Paltan, Excuse Me Madam and Jijaji Chhat Parr Koii Hai.
So what is your favourite festival? “I like them all… be it Holi, Diwali, Dussehra, Dhanteras, Eid, Christmas, Lohri, Baisakhi, and the list goes on. During such good times there’s so much positivity all around. Even when people have Mata Ki Chowki, I love going for it. We also have a great Guru Nanak Jayanti celebration at my building, and of course my most favourite Ganesh Chaturthi, when Ganesh Ji comes home. I’m very excited from beginning to the end like it’s a birthday for a child, my friends come to visit, to see our Ganesh Ji, the excitement of ‘Ganesh ji coming home’, it’s a feeling I cannot explain. I’m really looking forward to the New Year celebration and coming times now. I hope things are more happy and positive for everyone next year and there’s great light in our lives,” she ends
