Nilanjana Purkayasstha: I enjoy Diwali because of the get-togethers and lights

Diwali means meeting people whom she doesn’t get to meet the rest of the year, says Nilanjana Purkayasstha. The producer and storyteller, whose ongoing project Chickoo Ki Mummy is doing well, is not much into festivals.

“I enjoy Diwali because of the get-togethers and the lights. This year too I will be catching up with my close friends and having a meal with them. I don’t have any family in Mumbai, but I have friends like family and I meet them,” she says.

Festivals are a good excuse to get dressed up because on normal days people like to laze around in their comfy outfits, adds Nilanjana. “It is always great to wear Indian festive clothes on Diwali.”

So what’s her favourite Indian festival? “I just love Christmas. It makes me feel all warm and happy,”
