It’s my homage to Seher Latif says Sikandar, gives credit to late casting director for his Hollywood debut

Sikandar Kher is one name who has an innately sincere disposition to all the roles he has portrayed. Be it his portrayal of Zoravar Singh Solanki in the Zoya Factor or Colonel Khan in Romeo Akbar Walter, he leaves his mark among his peers. As Sikandar embarks on a new journey, he holds a bag of mixed emotions.

Monkey Man is an upcoming American action thriller directed by the renowned Dev Patel who also stars in the film. Monkey Man will probably go down in Sikandar’s life as one of the rarest moments of happiness and sadness mixed together. He had no idea while auditioning for the film that he would be thanking the casting director, Seher Latif, posthumously for the part. Seher tragically passed away in June this year after a sudden cardiac arrest.

Talking about how he landed the part, Sikandar says, ‘’A casting director is someone an actor always looks up to, someone he depends on to make his life. Seher was one such person for me. Soft spoken, always smiling and extremely professional, I knew Seher would get me the right part someday; that she was looking out for me. She was always looking out to get me something good. When I met her at Famous Studios to audition for Monkey Man, Dev was there too and he took the audition and then the three of us went out for a meal. It was such a wonderful moment. It still is. Just that Seher is no longer there to witness the exciting path she put me on. Had it not been for her, I would have never landed this path. No one would have known or thought of me for this role. I owe this to Seher. Wherever she may be, I wish her peace in her beyond and all my love.”
