We wanted to do something more creative than become amateur chefs last lockdown : Damini Shetty on her real lockdown film.
Actress & creative honcho, Damini Shetty had some different plans last lockdown when most of the world took to social media to put their art, hobbies or workout routine on a photo sharing App.
A household name recognised as Yashoda from the hit mythological show Shri Krishna, Damini helmed a production house with her husband Raaj under the banner Eternal Flame Productions.
Choices starring real life couples Barkha Bisht & Indraneil Sengupta together, sure does cut out to be remembered as one of the novel films made in the midst of the lockdown, for the movie was directed by Damini Shetty & husband Raaj entirely through a computer screen. The movie based on the inter personal relations between a couple locked in the house is picking up momentum but what is intriguing is the process in which the film was made.
From sharing the idea on a public platform for a feedback to directing, producing & post production completely online, Damini Shetty has successfully paved a way for new age makers by pushing the envelope when the world came to a stand still.
‘As creators we ought to experiment,’ Damini said. ‘Sitting at home, watching other creators like actors, directors & producers make cooking videos, yoga videos for their social media, Raaj & me wondered we could really put something to use. We were contemplating options on what we could do & that’s when the thought of a movie struck. The idea was to show people that creativity cannot be contained. We wanted to make a film & have two people who actually live together & weave a story around them so it is filmed during lockdown without a team but also made like a regular film.’
‘I had my script ready in about 10 days. It was about a couple stuck in lockdown & the trials & turbulations they go through. I immediately put it on my social media app to gauge the reaction & feedback & also get someone creative on board who was open to this experiment of ours. We immediately got response from our industry. One of my strongest supporters, Swapna Waghmare Joshi were willing to contribute to the idea. That gave us enough encouragement to take it to the next level. I don’t think this could have been made if there wasn’t a lockdown,’ she adds.
