Actor Mikhael Kantroo to make web debut through Voot Select’s Candy playing a mysterious man 

Actor Mikhael Kantroo who is from theatre background is all set to make a web debut through Voot Select’s thriller series Candy which will be releasing on 8th September. Helmed by director Ashish R. Shukla, he will be seen in a pivotal role alongside Richa Chadha, Ronit Roy, Manu Rishi Chadha and others.

The series is billed as a murder mystery, set against a picturesque backdrop of a boarding school in the mountains. Shredding light on his role Mikhael states,”I’m essaying the character named Luka who is strong, silent and secretive. A man with his ear to the ground and is as mysterious as the town of Rudrakund. He runs a club called Cube. 

Sharing about the challenges in preparing for the role he reveals,”I had workshops with Agrim and Debo, the writers of the show to workout his backstory. The writers have lived with this character for over 2 years and I realised that listening to them was the first step to internalising the character. Then came Luka’s physicality, which was tricky because he’s much bigger in size than me, so while he has an intimidating presence he doesn’t have to do much to exert himself.”

“Here my director Ashish Shukla helped me a lot, by giving me references and explaining what shades he was adding cinematically to create the visuals. The conversations I had with the DOP’s were useful too as I learnt to restrain myself in tight close ups.One of the challenges was that Luka is intended to be mysterious therefore I had to communicate in silences. I had to understand the director’s vision for the character and restrain myself”, Mikhael reveals.
