“Uttaran” Aayush Shah Receives Fan Mails Even Today Saying His Character Inspired Them To Change Their Lives For Good; He Played A Child Drug Addict

Child actors are often typecast in the entertainment industry. After numerous noteworthy projects, popular TV actor Aayush Shah remembers the project he took up as a challenge when he was a child even today “Even though I was a child, I wanted to stay away from the run of the mill, ‘cute kid’ roles and wanted to push myself as an actor and that is when the iconic show Uttaran came my way”

AayushShah played the role of an underprivileged child who was struggling with drug abuse. “It was a role way ahead of its time. There were people who were skeptical about the effect it would have on me as a child. Their intentions were good, but my intentions were pure. You don’t have to be a drug addict to play a drug addict, you need to relate to the pain and journey of the character as an actor. That role changed my trajectory as an actor from the onset.”

The show reached cult status and kept being released over the world and in India across languages. For Shah that meant his character kept getting resurrected and the appreciation flows in even today “Even today I get fan mails talking about how my characters honesty reflected onscreen and how they could relate to me and I inspired them to change for good. It is a kind of reward an actor can never measure.  But I do not take it for granted. In fact the bar is even higher now since I set that as a kid and I am focused on reinventing and dishing out one experiment after another for my audiences”.

Aayush started his career as a child actor with the popular film ‘My Friend Ganesha 2’ where he played the negative lead. He was next seen in Uttaran, Navya and then Mahabharat.’Uttaran’ is the third longest-running Indian television series of Colors TV. The series was dubbed into Tamil as SindhuBhairavi on Raj TV, in English as True Love on Glow TV and in Malayalam as Valsalyam on Surya TV. The series was remade in Tamil as Oviya on Colors Tamil and in Marathi as AsavaSundarSwapnancha Bangla on Colors Marathi. Also got aired inIndonesia , Armenia and Turkey. At present the show is getting telecasted on colors Supertv in Kannada.
