Watch acclaimed teleplays from across the border by Zee Theatre

Zee Theatre has been consistently offering its audience stories of universal resonance across genres that revolve around relatable characters from different milieus. This month, the platform is streaming poignant and powerful narratives from across the border on their partner DTH services. . Here is an overview of ‘Jhaanjhar Di Paanwan Chhankaar’, ‘Mushk’ and ‘Gidh’.

Jhaanjhar Di Paanwan Chhankaar :
The teleplay play revolves around a visually impaired man who decides to live away from his over protective mother and gets to know his neighbour who is an aspiring actor and has taken up an unusual role in a movie. There is an interesting development between the two and the unfolding of the reason why he wants to stay away from his mother. The play touches the subject of how we as a society react to people with disabilities be it physical or emotional and treat them as outcasts. The play stars Sarmad Khoosat (also the co-director), Samiya Mumtaz, Zain Afzal, Iman Shahid and is directed by Kanwal Khoosat.

Mushk:
Mushk is the story of a reclusive genius writer and a journalist who visits her house to conduct an interview. Paring away each other’s lies and evasions, their interaction reveals an increasingly complex pattern in an apparently simple melody. Through the story, the characters realize the meaning of love and that things are not really as they seem. The teleplay is directed by Kanwal Khoosat and stars two of the most versatile actors from across the border – Sania Saeed and Nimra Bucha.

Gidh:
Saleema’s life is disrupted after an unexpected visit from Salma who claims to be her sister-in-law. As the plot unfolds, both the women share the miseries of their respective lives caused by the same man – Junaid, Salma’s brother and Saleema’s husband. Together, they decide to do put an end to their suffering. What in fact transpires changes one of their lives forever, but not in the way that she had expected. The teleplay is directed by Kanwal Khoosat and stars Sana Jafri, Raasti Farooq and Adeel Afzal.
