Vikas Khanna shows the way to celebrating festivals in their true essence, will distribute 2 million meals during ongoing Ganpati Festival
Ace chef Vikas Khanna’s unrelenting efforts to feed those struck because of COVID 19, has helped millions to not go to bed empty stomach. The Michellin Star chef’s Feed India Campaign not just gained National Attention but also created buzz internationally for its novel deed of taking food, sanitation kits and essentials to the less priviledged sections of the society.
His campaign, which strives to provide meals to those in need, has already touched 30 million mark ever since it commenced during lockdown. Vikas, who is currently in the US, ensured that food trucks reach even the far off, remote places which were would probably not show even on the maps.
Besides the meals, he has also distributed 4,000,000 slippers, 2 million face masks to those in need. Interestingly, his absence did not deter his dedication to be the support everyone needed during the Nationwide lockdown.
Now, determined to stop at nothing, as part of the same – Feed India Campaign – Vikas will distribute 2 million meals during the ongoing auspicious occasion of Ganesh pooja.
The meal bags will first go to Siddhivinayak temple and Lal Bagh Ka Raja to offer prasad. Post that, the trucks will go to various location to distribute.
He also plans to send meal bags to his idols, Lata Mangeshkar, Neena Gupta, Farah Khan and Madhuri Dixit Nene, as a mark of respect and seek their blessing.
As someone who believes in spreading joy to everyone on festivals, Vikas says, “Ganesh Pooja is a very special festival for everyone in India and there cannot be better day to celebrate it with food and feeding those who are in need. No one should be deprived of food on any day and I want to make efforts to do this. The essence of festival is in spreading happiness and joy amongst each other and doing this for the people of my country gives me immense joy and satisfaction”.
This is not the first time, that Vikas has made festivals a joyous occassion for everyone, he distributed meals during Eid too, also the time when Assan floods had created difficult life situations for thousands of people.
On the festival of Rakshabandhan, as part of the Feed India Campaign, the world reknowned chef had distributed 3 million sanitary pads to women across the country.
