Jasleen Royal On a musical high

Jasleen Royal was first noticed at the age of 18, when she participated in a reality show and was appreciated equally by the audience and industry people. Today, she is counted among the very few singer-songwriter-composers in mainstream Hindi cinema.

Playing multiple instruments simultaneously while singing has turned her into a one-girl band. From helming the entire album of Hichki (2018) to composing songs like Nachde Ne Saare and Kho Gaye Hum Kahan (Baar Baar Dekho, 2016) and Din Shagna Da (Phillauri, 2017) to name a few, Jasleen has an impressive list of compositions.

While her future Bollywood project includes Kesari, she is also gearing up to release more singles. Interestingly, it is her single Panchi Ho Jaavan, which she had uploaded on a video-sharing platform, that paved her way to films. An outsider to the industry at that time, today, she has lent her voice and composed for films featuring stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma and Siddharth Malhotra, among others.

Jasleen’s latest composition, Jahaan Tu Chala (Gully Boy), has turned out to be popular. She says, “I am happy and proud to be part of such an eclectic music album and also, to have worked with Zoya Akhtar (director). It’s a dream come true. I would like to thank my listeners for loving and supporting the track. There is a special version that I am releasing for them, today.”
