With numerous magnificent aspects woven into its design, the sets reflect a never-before-seen opulence on television. With meticulous attention to detail, he has crafted awe-inspiring sets that transport viewers into a mythical realm. The sets consist of 100,000 sq. ft carpet area and towers more than 40 feet that radiates majesty through seamless use of visual effects. The set embodies the divine universe with its exquisite presence, immersing audiences in a captivating and unprecedented experience.  Premiering on the 19th of June 2023, let’s dive into the mesmerising world of Shiv Shakti – Tap Tyag Tandav.

Shiv aur Shakti ka mridu dham Kailash

It is believed that Lord Shiv resides on the breathtaking hilltops of the Himalayas. The Kailash set erected for the show is laden with snow and ice with cavernous boulders barely hidden beneath it. The tall mountains of the humbling Himalayas have been replicated to make the set look authentic as the abode of Lord Shiv. These peaks are in their prehistoric glory and Lord Shiva’s mystical cave is complete with stone corridors and pillars placed at the mouth of a clearing in the middle of the snow. With clouds orbiting Mount Kailash, this set is accentuated with a play of soft blue lights, considering that Shiv is synonymous with the color.

                                                                               The forest that signifies life

Recreating the charm and fantasy of the era, the enchanted forest is filled with exotic flowers, leaves, fruits, and waterfalls bathed in the magical glow of the sunlight. Evoking a surreal romance, the forest has been crafted with meticulous attention to detail as it will serve as the backdrop for Shiv and Shakti’s love saga.

The angelic dynasty of Swarg Lok

Promising to take the viewers through divine elements, Swarg Lok is adorned with a reel sky, white clouds, a gigantic dome, pillars with intricate designs and white and gold furnishings. Looking every bit like the abode of numerous Gods, the Swarg Lok set has a palatial darbaar, where Indra will be seen resting on his ornate throne. Nestled in the sky, this magnificent world is eyed by the Asurs, who reside in pataallok.

Mayavi rakshason ki mayavi nagri – Asur Lok

In contrast to Indra Lok, Asur Lok is fashioned as a dark subterranean region under the earth’s crust made up of lava stones, darkness, and eerie caves. This realm is created by the master architect of the Asurs, Mayasur who is considered as skillful as Vishwakarma, the architect of Gods. Indicating the presence of demons, the caves have foreboding cracks, golden lava spilling from them and metal roots ensnaring its pillars. Sculptures of sinister-looking wild creatures across its architecture underline the existence of dark forces.

                                                                The embellished world of Daksh

Filled with a heavenly flourish, the darbaar sparkles with pristine cotton drapery, sparkling wood, polished stone, and ornate bedrooms and corridors. The Daksh Darbaar has an interesting feature – the depiction of women empowerment through its elegant statues. After all, it was the place where Shakti, the embodiment of women’s power, was born as Sati.

Talking about the sets, Designer Omung Kumar B. said, “Mirroring the mythical aesthetic, we created five unparalleled sets that resonate with the characters and the sentiments that they incite. Each set is about 120-120 feet high, which will later be amplified using VFX. Every set reflects the opulence of the world of Gods and unearthly creatures. The endeavour was to prop up a set that assumes the identity of the character inhabiting it and presents an entirely new take on the divine universe to the viewers. Considering that COLORS and Siddharth Kumar Tewary are creating a show of such immense magnitude, capturing a story that holds significant cultural value, it is imperative that we maintain the grandeur and scale of the set production without any compromise.”

Sharing his thoughts about the divine universe created by Omung Kumar B., Siddharth Kumar Tewary said, “It’s a delight to witness the opulent sets that Omung Kumar B. has created for Shiv Shakti. He brings alive the entire divine universe that establishes the backdrop of this epic saga. While I’ve pursued my calling of recounting legendary tales on television over the years, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with Omung time and again. When it comes to giving the sets an authentic majestic look, I could trust no one other than him. We share the same passion for crafting a rich universe that immerses viewers in the narrative. I think his biggest strength as a set designer is that he draws inspiration from his experience as a filmmaker and storyteller.

‘Shiv Shakti – Tap Tyag Tandav’ will premiere on the 19th of June and air every Monday to Friday8pm only on COLORS.
