“Sangh to Reach our Society via Shatak”, said Dr. Manmohan Ji Vaidya at the Trailer Launch of the Much-Awaited Movie Shatak: Sangh Ke 100 Varsh
The trailer of the film on India’s most debated and closely observed organisation was unveiled in Mumbai with the trailer launch of Shatak: Sangh Ke 100 Varsh. The trailer was released by Dr. Manmohan Ji Vaidya, senior functionary and member of the Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal (All-India Executive Committee) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), in the presence of several dignitaries, marking a significant moment in the organisation’s centenary year.
Ahead of the public unveiling, the makers hosted a special preview of the trailer exclusively for select members of the media, held in the presence of Dr. Manmohan Ji Vaidya, offering journalists an opportunity to engage more closely with the film’s context and intent.
2025 marked a truly monumental milestone for the RSS as it completed 100 years of its journey — a century that has seen the organisation influence India’s social, cultural and ideological landscape in profound ways. Shatak positions itself against this backdrop, seeking to move the conversation beyond perception-driven narratives and towards a more nuanced engagement with history, philosophy and institutional evolution.
The trailer signals the film’s intent to address and challenge several long-standing myths surrounding the organisation, bringing to light historical chapters that have rarely, if ever, been explored on screen. From the multiple bans imposed on the RSS across different periods, to its role during critical phases of India’s freedom struggle and the Emergency, the narrative promises to engage with sensitive yet significant moments in history — offering audiences a deeper, more contextualised understanding of events that have shaped public perception for decades.
Dr. Manmohan Ji Vaidya’s presence at the launch added gravitas to the occasion. His association with the unveiling underscored the film’s seriousness of purpose and its effort to remain anchored in authenticity.
Produced by Vir Kapur, co-produced by Aashish Tiwari and presented by Ada 360 Degree LLP, Shatak aims to bring forth lesser-known chapters and untold moments that have shaped the organisation’s identity. The trailer offers glimpses of a narrative that engages with history, memory and continuity, inviting audiences to look beyond familiar headlines.
Speaking about the initiative of this movie and the story behind it, Dr. Manmohan Ji Vaidya said, “It is heartening that through the film Shatak, information about the Sangh will reach society via such a powerful medium. A social thinker once observed that between 1875 and 1950, of all movements that began in India, only the Sangh continued without splitting—and that continuity, growth, and relevance remain its defining strengths even today. The film’s tagline, ‘Naa Ruke, Naa Thake, Naa Jhuke’ therefore feels deeply meaningful. At the root of this journey stands the vision of the Sangh’s founder, Dr. Hedgewar. Cinema has the unique power to touch hearts and minds, and it is commendable that the makers have chosen this medium to tell the Sangh’s story with such creativity and sincerity.”
Talking about his experience, director Aashish Mall said, “This film is deeply personal to me. I truly believe some stories choose you, and Shatak is one such story—it chose me. During the process, despite being politically aware, I discovered so many new aspects through months of research and guidance. We realised how many myths and rumours exist in public discourse, and it became important for us to address them honestly. This film is our sincere effort to present another perspective and leave it to audiences to see and decide.”
Speaking at the launch about the film, producer Vir Kapur said, “Creators and writers have always been there, they are here today, and they will continue to guide generations to come. Our writers have drawn from existing books and literature, using those foundations to shape the narrative of this film. We have carefully woven these ideas together, like pearls on a thread, to present this story in a cinematic form. This film is our sincere attempt to bring that collective work to the audience.”
From striking visuals to a compelling narrative and evocative music, Shatak is creating a cinematic space that few films have ventured into before.
A concept by Anil D Agrawal, directed by Aashish Mall, Shatak is slated for a theatrical release on 19th February 2026. The trailer sets the stage for a deeper engagement with a century-old idea that continues to influence contemporary India.
