From erased memories to a big comeback – Iqbal Khan, star of Sony SAB’s Hui Gumm Yaadein, finally breaks the suspense of his Instagram wipeout

Iqbal Khan’s Instagram blackout at the start of the year wasn’t just a reset. The actor, who returns to television with Sony SAB’s upcoming medical drama Hui Gumm Yaadein – Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan, archived his entire social media presence to mirror the emotions of his character, Dr Dev. In the show, Dr Dev loses eight years of his life to memory loss, waking up to a world that remembers him, while he doesn’t recognize himself.

Reflecting on his Instagram reset, Iqbal Khan notes “The digital blackout was an invitation for audiences to step into Dr Dev’s world before the story unfolds. Imagine waking up one day and realizing everything you lived, every memory you cherished, is gone. This was my way of sharing that fear, that emptiness with the audience.”

Hui Gumm Yaadein – Ek Doctor, Do Zindagiyaan is the Indian adaptation of the internationally acclaimed series DOC – Nelle Tue Mani, reimagined for Indian audiences. Sony SAB brings the global fan-favourite series to India, infusing it with fresh emotion, cultural resonance, and a deeply human lens. At the heart of the story is Dr Dev: sharp, intuitive, and profoundly humane. Though stripped of personal history, relationships, and identity of the last 8 years, he continues to show up for others, guided by instinct and compassion rather than memory.
