Aamir Khan Hoists the Tricolour at the 16th Indian Film Festival in Melbourne

Aamir Khan, one of the most legendary actors in Indian cinema, has delivered numerous hits that continue to resonate with audiences across generations. Known for his powerful acting and remarkable screen presence, he stands tall as one of the most iconic stars of the country.

Currently in Melbourne, Aamir inaugurated the prestigious Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2025, where his presence drew immense admiration. On the occasion of India’s Independence Day, he was specially invited to join the celebrations. He had the honor of hoisting the Indian national flag at the festival, marking a proud and memorable moment.

The 16th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne is set to showcase an exciting celebration of cinema with an impressive mix of screenings, interactive sessions, exclusive events, and the traditional Independence Day flag-hoisting. Scheduled to run from August 14 to 24, the festival will pay tribute to outstanding films and digital shows released between June 15, 2024, and June 14, 2025.

Aamir Khan’s recent film Sitaare Zameen Par emerged as one of the most loved films of the year, winning hearts across generations and becoming a major box office hit. Starring Aamir Khan alongside 10 young debutants, the film carried a fresh charm and emotional depth that resonated widely.
Following its theatrical success, Aamir Khan Productions announced that the film is now available to stream on YouTube via Aamir Khan Talkies (Janta Ka Theater). Directed by R. S. Prasanna, the film, which also stars Genelia Deshmukh in a pivotal role, was released in theaters on June 20, 2025. Adding to his remarkable year, Aamir Khan also starred in Coolie, alongside Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, and others. The film was released in tehatres on August 14, 2025.
