Ashish Chanchlani Reveals Sunny Deol’s Ghatak was his First Film in the Theatres, Says, ‘It Had a Significant Impact on my Life”

Ashish is all set to make his directorial debut with Ekaki, a project that also sees him in front of the camera. His fans are eager to see this new side of him. In a recent podcast, Ashish got candid about his deep-rooted love for cinema, recalling his first movie experience and sharing that he was “born into cinema,” thanks to his father owning a theatre.

Ashish recalled watching Sunny Deol for the first time on screen and how it had a huge impact on him, sharing, “My first movie watching experience was Sunny Deol’s Ghatak. I was 2/2.5 years. Sunny Deol ne screen pe chilaya aur yahape pura therater chilla raha tha, siti mar rha tha. Jo Sunny Deol chilata tha yaha public garam hojati thi, I think that is the first moment I have, Bahot chota tha me lekin. That is the moment it’s edged in my memory, and it had a significant impact on my life.”

Ashish called himself a movie baby, revealing how his love for cinema runs deep. Talking about his childhood, he shared that his father owned a cinema, saying, “Bahot logo ko ye malum nahi hai lekin mere na dad ka single screen cinema hai, abhi toh multiplex hogaga hai, I am a movie baby. Mujhse log puchte hai aap kya itna movies ke bare me actors ke bare me excited rehte ho, meri zindagi rahi hai. I was literally born into cinema.”

On the work front, Ashish Chanchlani is all set to make his directorial debut with Ekaki, a horror-comedy where he also stars, writes, and produces. The intriguing first-look poster, featuring eerie shadows and lanterns, hints at a supernatural theme with an ensemble cast.
