“Join the #MyGhuspaithiyaStory Movement: Survivors Can Win ₹1 Lakh by Sharing Your Harrowing Cyber Threat Experiences”

The makers of Ghuspaithiya, directed by Susi Ganeshan and starring Vineet Kumar Singh, Urvashi Rautela, and Akshay Oberoi, are urging individuals who have faced or encountered disturbing cyber threats to come forward and share their experiences. This initiative aims to create awareness about cyber threats and make society a safer place. To support this effort, the filmmakers have launched a Ghuspaithiya movement where survivors can share their experiences using the hashtag #MyGhuspaithiyaStory and win a cash prize of ₹1 lakh. These stories will be judged by esteemed members of the media, ensuring that every voice is heard and respected. The makers initially had honoured survivors with a cash prize of Rs. 51,000 and now they have increased the prize money to Rs. 1,00,000.

The intention behind this movement is to provide a
platform for survivors to speak out, share their stories, and educate others about the dangers of cyber threats. The makers are committed to making survivors comfortable in sharing their experiences, boosting their morale, and ensuring that their voices contribute to a safer, more peaceful society.

The trailer launch of Ghuspaithiya that was held in Mumbai recently, was an unprecedented event, featuring not only the star cast but also survivors of cyber hacking, phone tapping, and other cyber security threats. During the launch, a survivor of the cyber crime, bravely shared her story at the event, detailing the trauma she endured due to a horrifying cyber attack, making the launch extremely powerful and unique!

“I have been a survivor of an intense cyber crime where my phone was hacked, and my photos were morphed to create new, explicit images of me,” said the survivor while narrating her horrifying experience. “The hacker then threatened me with demands for meetings and sexual activities. I felt as if my world had ended, not knowing what to do after being caught in such a trap. As a member of this industry, I was terrified and shocked about what my family and others would think. Every day, I received calls from different numbers, demanding sexual favors and threatening to leak the morphed images online if I didn’t comply. They also had access to my credit card and other important banking information.

Talking about her being firm, she added, “Despite the fear, I mustered the courage and refused to give in to their demands. I told them clearly that I would not do anything they wanted and that they were free to do whatever they threatened. When they realized I wasn’t falling into their trap, they started demanding money. However, they soon found out that I had hardly any money in my account, as my salary hadn’t been credited. Eventually, they offered me an amount of ₹10 lakh to work for them in their disgusting activities. The mental state I was in during this time was indescribable; I was trapped in a terrifying nightmare. But a big thanks to Nikhil (Jethwa) Sir for helping me through this mess.”

Ghuspaithiya, directed by Susi Ganeshan, features Vineet Kumar Singh, Urvashi Rautela, and Akshay Oberoi, shedding light on these pressing issues, making it a timely and important film. Produced by M. Ramesh Reddy, Jyotika Shenoy, and Manjari Susi Ganeshan, with cinematography by Sethu Sriram and music by Akshay Menon and Saurabh Singh, Ghuspaithiya is not just a film but a crucial commentary on the state of cybersecurity today.
