Saurabh Agarwal: Every incident turns out to be sensational even if it’s not

Slumdog Millionaire actor Saurabh Agarwal is not closely following Aryan Khan’s arrest case, but said that every incident turns out to be a sensational case even if it’s not.

“I stopped watching news since the time news about Sushant’s (Singh Rajput) suicide came out. The way the media has made itself a laughing stock for one year. And what came out, nothing. It’s the inquisitiveness, it’s the unruly mind which people have. Every person needs entertainment, even if it’s about someone’s life, it doesn’t matter to them. As viewers who watch TV, who watch news, and for news only TRP and viewership matters. So everything, every incident, turns out to be a sensational case even if it’s not. And since he’s Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan, so obviously it has become a whole sensational case for them and they played with it,” he said.

Talking about the star kid’s arrest, the “Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha” actor said, “If you see, same chronology happened with Sushant Singh Rajput. The case is still pending with the CBI. And at that time we thought we didn’t know what happened, different kinds of stories came out. It’s like, ‘Khoda Pahad, nikli chuhiya’. So yes he’s the son of Shah Rukh Khan and that’s why it has become a sensational case. And since news channels normally run on TRP, everything is like a sensational case for them.”

A lot of celebrities have taken a stand for Aryan and appealed to set him free or have extended open support.

“It is always right to pledge support to the people you know, if they’re friends, if he is the son of your friend and if you know him personally and you know him and he’s a nice guy. He might have taken drugs, but that doesn’t make him a drug addict. So it’s good that people are coming up for his support because they’re the people who are close to him and his father. So it’s good that big celebrities, friends of Shah Rukh Khan, friend’s of Aryan Khan are coming out to support him and it has to be there. It’s the moral duty as a citizen, friend and as a human being,” said Saurabh.

Drug abuse has become a topic of discussion again, and he has an advice for the youth.

“My advice would be that everything happens out of curiosity. When we’re curious to know something which we think is not good to discuss. When we’re in our youth, we have this inquisitiveness of knowing things. We’re curious to know ‘what it is, why don’t people talk about it. Let’s try it out.’ You start doing things out of inquisitiveness. Doing it, I would say it’s not harmful. Yes, if you’re doing it out of inquisitiveness is fine but if you’re doing it out of habit then it is not good. I would advise you not to do that. Out of curiosity you want to try something that is fine, good enough. But you should not make it a habit. You should avoid anything whether it’s smoking or drinking, you should see to it that you’re not getting addicted to it. You should have the willpower to leave anything in a snap. That is how I have treated my life and how I expect others to do,” he said.

Being a celebrity comes with a baggage too, so much public glare there.

“That’s true. There’s a very good saying, ‘with great power comes great responsibility.’  So yes, obviously when you’re a big time celebrity, you’re the biggest media personality in Bollywood. So there would be a lot of glares on you and at times things happen by chance. You haven’t done that purposely, maybe it’s just something turned out to be from nowhere and you’re unaware of something. Things just didn’t turn up as you expected. So can’t blame anyone for it, but yes since you’re a big time celebrity would be talked about,” he said.

“They would be back stabbing also, so I think that’s part and parcel of being a big time celebrity and you know how we as a society are. We always talk about others, and not about ourselves. If we happened to look within ourselves, things would be much smoother, much more happier and peaceful but we don’t see ourselves but others. This is the way we behave,” he added.
