After bringing Cannes Palme d’Or, 2018 winner Shoplifters, Ash is the Purest White and Yomeddine to Indian screens, Sanjay Suri (KAHWA Entertainment) in association with Srinivasan Narayan (In 2Infotainment) & C A Films are all set to release Ladj Ly’s Directorial, Les Miserables in India.
Inspired by the 2005 Paris riots, the film is based on story of an officer who has recently joined the Anti-Crime Squad in Montfermeil, in the suburbs of Paris, France, where, Victor Hugo set his famed novel “Les Miserables”. Alongside his new colleagues he quickly discovers tensions running high between local gangs. When the trio finds themselves overrun during an arrest, a drone captures the encounter, threatening to expose the reality of everyday life. Les Misérables is a provocative insight into the tensions between neighbourhood residents and police, which interestingly draws parallels between what is happening in India, the current unrest and rising dissent amongst citizens over inaction of police force.

Les Miserables stars Damien Bonnard, Alexis Manenti, Djibril Zonga, Issa Perica, and was the Winner of Jury Prize at Cannes Film Festival 2019, Nominee of Best Motion Picture – Foreign Language at Golden Globe 2020, Nominated for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards (Oscars) among many other awards.

The film will be distributed all over India by Rakesh Sippy (Raksha Entertainment) and will hit the screens in India on 13th March.
