Stop looking out for the worst and making it worse: Randeep Hooda

Stop looking out for the worst and making it worse: Randeep Hooda

For while now we have been hearing about doomsday theory about the environment going to the pits and while there are a lot of conversations on how things are falling apart but very little on what needs to be done and more importantly very few people coming out and sharing on how we can do our bit.

Actor Randeep Hooda is one person that is one person who believes that we need to get out of this mindset that nothing can be done and change ourselves. Talking about it he shared an interesting tale on how volunteers have cleaned the beach in Versova, and the Olive Ridley turtles returned! In another incident, Amur Falcons who come from Central Asia and move to Nagaland, before leaving for South Africa, Somalia and Kenya, were hunted down to almost extinction. But the government, local bodies and NGOs came together to change the scenario.

“So we need to share more stories of hope. You need to have more hope, whether it is the environment, human conflicts or opinions. Stop looking out for the worst and making it worse”.
He also thinks that there are enough policymakers and we need more ground-level people to make the change happen. Randeep says, “Everything is connected. Whether it is the tiger parks or the shores of the world, we have to save the people through socio-economic help and education, they will save the environment, you cannot go and do it. The ‘Save the Tiger’ campaign should become ‘Save the people who are in touch with the tigers’. Focus on people who can cause a change for them to save it. I look for people who do ground-level work because I can’t be present there. And then, I try and help them in whichever way I can, financial, awareness or advertising them. We have, specially in India, a lot of laws and policies, but not enough ground-level implementation. It is good to talk, discuss, and find solutions, but there’s got to be somebody who goes out there and puts their a** on the line and do it. Those are people I admire, and I hope I can be one”.

Randeep has recently been named as the ambassador for UN’s Convention of Migratory Species. He seems upbeat about this responsibility that has been given to him and looking forward to bringing out the much needed change.
On the work front, his last release Love Aaj Kal has got him some raving reviews and he is looking forward to his next movie Radhe which will be releasing on Eid 2020
