The makers of ALTBalaji’s ‘The Verdict – State Vs Nanavati’ introduced new characters from their series and we can’t wait!

New posters are out for AltBalaji’s courtroom drama, ‘The Verdict: The state vs. Nanavati’ were released today and the makers have given us new glimpses from the characters of the show! The trailer has received a tremendous response from the audience and is certainly building up quite the hype for the web series. A day after the main characters of the story were revealed, today, the makes dropped three more posters and presented us with the other key characters that were involved in one of the most gripping cases, the nation ever witnessed.

Amongst others, we get to see the first look of Sumeet Vyas as Ram Jethmalani who was a lawyer. He obtained his law degree by the age of 17 and came to India after the partition with his first wife. In 1952, he married his second wife in India and was a prominent lawyer. One of his critical wins was when he fought against the Bombay refugees Act of India.

He was again, propelled into the limelight when he chose to be watching brief on a case that would make him one of the most famous lawyers in the country in 1959. The case was not just a challenge to him but to the entire judicial system of India.

We also see Kubbra Sait essaying the role of Mamie Bhagwandas Ahuja who was an active socialite and a social worker. She and her brother, Prem Ahuja lost their parents and then after they were the only family either of them had. After her brother was murdered in 1959, she began to fight for justice and along the way, she realised she was not only fighting against the accused but also against the opinion of the people and the media, and the naval top brass and politicians. She was the one who brought Ram Jethmalani in to fight for her brother’s justice after she realised that the public prosecutor was not fit to handle such an intense case.

And last but not the least, we see Angad Bedi as Karl Jamshed Khandalavala who served in the Royal India Air Force during the second world war. He was a collector of artifacts of historical significance and used to practice law as a hobby. He chose to defend a fellow Parsi and soldier, Kawas Nanavati, ho was accused of shooting and killing Prem Ahuja. The case that took the nation by a storm and had the attention of leading political figures, media and the naval officers of the country.

Directed by Shashant Shah, the 10-episode series is based on the real-life incident of 1959 and follows the trial of naval officer KM Nanavati who shot three bullets from his revolver at a businessman and later confessed his crime to the police. Even after six decades the infamous story of K.M. Nanavati Vs. The state of Maharashtra is still one of the most sensational criminal cases in India and marks a landmark judgement in the history of India.
